It was time for her annual pap smear. The nurse instructed her to undress in the small room, and said her doctor would be in any second.
Her gynecologist was a sweet older lady, in her early 50's. Diane had been seeing her since she was 18. She couldn't wait to tell her she recently got married and was ready to start a family!
The door opened. In walked a tall, slim man, about her complexion, with chiseled cheekbones and a bright smile accenting his handsome face."Your doctor won't be seeing you today. My name is Dr. Karl Howard. I'll be performing your exam today."
He grabbed her chart off the door. Strange, no one told her the other doctor wouldn't be seeing her. "Please lay back and get comfortable. You know the drill. Feet in the stirrups, young lady."
His cheerful bedside manner made her feel a little more at ease, even though she had never had a male gynecologist before. She did as she was instructed while he looked at her chart. "Take your gown off," he said, his eyes never leaving the contents of the manila folder. "I will need to examine you thoroughly today."
